Why Did I Put Up This Site?
If you were born in the US in the early 90s late 80’s then you probably heard the old addage “you need to go to college and get a safe and secure job with good benefits”.
Robert Kiosake fans would chuckle at that advise, and I would argue that same thinking during the Industrial Age would have been great, when the difference between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’ was a college degree. Now though, I don’t think the same can be said for our generation.
When the average debt held by a student in the class of 2016 is $37,172 (1) and rising, it’s a sign that something is wrong. Fortunately I fell in the lower end but still needed how to spend, save and invest my money. To learn more about how I was able to pay off my $33,555 in student loan debt check out My Personal Debt Story.
It took me 3 years, lots of blood (kidding, but there was some), sweat and tears and a re-education on how money works before I was able to finally pay off my debt and get in the fast lane to financial freedom.
Now, I write about how to live a better life, a simpler life debt free, enjoying the online lifestyle.
I also write about how to start a businesses with little to no upfront capital, investing methods to reduce risk and maximize the upside, and about the places I’ve traveled to and how to avoid “mayhem” along the way.
I welcome feedback and questions here on my site, and please feel free to contact me using the “contact us” page on the site.

So Who Am I?
My Name is Kristian, I spell it with a “K” like the Eastern Europe Spelling, it’s not religious so don’t ask me that I just prefer the spelling. If you wish to shorten it you may call me Kri.
Currently I live in Austin Texas. Was born and raise here, moved away for 4 1/2 years for school, and moved back in 2013.
I’ve traveled to Canada, China, Thailand, Macau, Philippines, France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Costa Rica, and Dubai. And the list continues to grow.
I Lived in Hong Kong for one year on study exchange, and Austria for a summer before traveling to Hong Kong.
One of my Life long goals has been to live in Berlin Germany and to spend my winters in the tropics each year, either Thailand or the Caribbean (or both) surfing and eating fruit every day.
When I was young my mom took me around the world with her on her trips. She’s a flight attendant, and no I don’t get to fly for free anymore once you’re 26 you lose those rights, but she still managed to infect me with the travel bug…
Now I find I have an insatiable urger to travel, eat new and unique food, and explore cultures and languages along the way.
To date I can say “where’s the toilet”, “can I have a beer” and “where’s the train station” in 6 languages and I’m working on fluency in Spanish. It helps that my girlfriend is a native Spanish speaker and duo lingo helps as well, but the best practice is speaking with someone who speaks that language (learn through doing just like this site).
My recent Costa Rica flight was free, and I write about how to get free flights on some of your favorite airlines as well through little “hacks”. Speaking of which I’m about to hack another flight, over to Japan this time, for the two of us.
